Today is Day 2 of our Homecoming Weekend posts, which will outline the plans for the Opening Ceremonies and Military Tattoo Performance happening in downtown Perth on Saturday, July 23, 2016:

We’re going to highlight gorgeous Stewart Park when we host the Opening Ceremonies and Military Tattoo Performance. For the Opening Ceremonies, we plan to keep up the stage and canopy used for the Stewart Park Festival.

Opening Ceremonies Line-Up will include:

  • Opening from our Town Crier
  • Dignitary Welcome
  • Greetings from our visitors from Perth, Scotland and Asago City, Japan
  • Special Entertainment
  • A Time Capsule Presentation
  • …and more!

Following the Opening Ceremonies, we’ll make our way across the green bridge at Stewart Park for the Military Tattoo Performance.

Saturday, July 23, 2016
12 p.m. (following the Opening Ceremonies)
Stewart Park, Perth, Ontario

At 12 p.m., three + bands will take turns performing for the public, and in the end, they’ll come together to perform the last set as a collective group. We have confirmed:

  • The OPP Pipe and Drum Band
  • The Gordon Pipe and Drum Band
  • The Sons of Scotland Pipe and Drum Band

If you’ve never seen a Military Tattoo, you’ll want to check it out! It’s free to the public, and you’re welcome to bring a lawn chair.

And..don’t forget…

The Canadian Dry Stone Festival will be taking place ALL weekend at the Former Outdoor Swimming Pool Pad in Stewart Park. They’ll be creating a Legacy Project bridge and wall. It’s going to be gah-or-geous, and they’ll have activities happening throughout the weekend. You can learn more about the Canadian Dry Stone Festival.
